The Independent Dance Manager’s Network (IDMN) is a networking group and forum for independent dance managers. It provides training, education and professional support for members and contributes to the development of the independent dance sector. Joe Bates, co-partner in Morton Bates Arts Services has been a member for several years and says: "IDMN has really supported my transition into working as an Independent Manager. Being part of the network has enabled me to connect with fellow managers, many of whom have a wealth of experience. It is great to know that there is a group of professionals ready and waiting to offer advice, guidance and support, without which I would otherwise have felt unconnected to the sector and undoubtedly lonely. I was also lucky enough to receive the first IDMN bursary with my business partner, and fellow IDMN member, Claire Morton. We used the money to successfully develop our partnership and extend our knowledge of the sector, providing a really strong foundation for our business development in the future." Up until now membership has only been open to independent freelancers but this year corporate membership will be open to Arts Development workers and Creative Producers employed by agencies and organisations specifically to support independent artists’ development. The elected management committee is Gwen Van Spijk (Chair), June Gamble (Secretary), Tim Tubbs (Treasurer), Joe Bates and Tia Hassan. Yearly membership is £40 per person, or £90 for corporate members. For more information on membership eligibility, list of membership benefits and to download an application form visit www.idmn.co.uk, or contact Claire Morton, IDMN Membership Coordinator or 020 7724 1616 |
