Please come and join Candoco Dance Company for an open space event - a day of discussions led by your thoughts and priorities in relation to creating a more inclusive dance sector.

This event forms part of Candoco's current nine-month organisational development project which has been supported by Arts Council England through Grants for the Arts.

Free post-show talk in the auditorium by Russell Maliphant, Michael Hulls, and Daniel Proietto.
Russell Maliphant presents a new full evening of work titled AfterLight, which contains the solo AfterLight (Part One) - shown at Sadler's Wells in October 2009 as part of In the Spirit of Diaghilev. The 15 minute solo, has now been developed into a full-length piece for three dancers.

A series of debates and discussions initiated by Candoco Dance Company as they embark on 9 months of research towards a cultural shift around dance and disability in the UK.
Choice - What do you want to make and where do you put it?

A day for integrated and inclusive dance companies, disabled dancers and artists to discuss the practicalities of creating dance as a product for performance. Exploring issues about the kind of work you make and how this relates to where you can present it. Nacera Belaza, Jonathan Burrows, Charles Linehan and Ros Warby in conversation with Rosemary Butcher, Ramsay Burt, Eckhard Thiemann and others.
Discussing minimalism as a choreographic approach rather than style, Spectacular Simplicity explores the reasons and methods which these choreographers use to bring out the essential. The innovations of Trisha Brown and her Judson Dance Theater colleagues (including Yvonne Rainer, Steve Paxton, Deborah Hay and David Gordon), form a starting point for the speakers to investigate the role of reduction and elimination in choreographic practice today.

Change - Working with Disabled Dancers. 19 November 5pm-7pm, Blue Coat Arts Centre
Join Heidi Latsky's Project GIMP and Candoco Dance Company as they get into the debate about a changing aesthetic and changing preconceptions about who can dance professionally.Where are all the disabled dancers? Where do disabled dancers train? Can disabled dancers be replaced by other disabled or non-disabled dancers? Taking these questions as a starting point, this lively conversation aims to dig a bit deeper into why we don't see more disabled dancers on stage. Speakers include Heidi Latsky and dancers from Project GIMP and Stine Nilsen, Co-Artistic Director Candoco Dance Company
